Brazil Virginia is the third blend in Davidoff's Discovery series. Per the product description, it's a mixture of double-fermented black Cavendish and the Brazilian Virginias that give the blend its name; however, Cavendish is clearly dominant in the blend, with yellow-brown Virginia ribbons remaining sparse among the dark leaves. It's ribbon cut and comes out of the pack nearly dry; it has a floral-topped, sugary and fruity scent.
It catches easily and its smoke disperses quickly. Due to the topping load it's prone to hot burning and tongue bite, so it calls for a slow pace. Rather than giving a sugary taste, it leaves a bitterish taste combined with a vanilla-evoking aroma; the Virginia's contribution is hard to distinguish. Despite a light nicotine load, its body is heavy, and toward the end of the smoke it turns toward tones reminiscent of Burley, even Kentucky, blends. It's a record for those curious about Danish-type Cavendish blends, offering intensity rather than nuance.
