Blairgowrie is Drucquer & Sons' Scottish-style blend. Aged Virginia leaves, select orientals, Cyprus latakia and perique are brought together; after the mixture is pressed and rested, it's sliced and tinned rubbed out. The name comes from the town of Blairgowrie near Perth in Scotland.
The resulting tobacco is full-bodied and richly sweet; latakia's smoky core is balanced by perique's fruity tartness and Virginia's sweetness. Thanks to the pressing, the flavors have melded, making it suitable for a long, slowly smoked bowl. Drucquer & Sons is a London tobacconist dating to 1841; it moved to Berkeley, California in 1928, and after the shop closed its blends were reorganized from the original recipes by Gregory Pease and began being produced at Cornell & Diehl.
