Prince's Blend

Prince's Blend is a mixture standing in the more measured wing of English mixtures. High-sugar red Virginia leaves build the body; only a hint of latakia, a small amount of burley and just enough perique to round out the smoke are added on top. The ribbon cut packs easily and burns evenly.

Here latakia is not the dominant component but plays an accent role; the blend therefore moves on Virginia sweetness and perique's fruity spice rather than smoke. Since nicotine and flavor intensity stay below medium, it suits long smokes and daytime use. It's a structure built for smokers new to latakia blends or who find heavily smoky mixtures too much. Drucquer & Sons recipes were reorganized by Gregory Pease, drawing on the brand's history founded in London in 1841 and moved to Berkeley in 1928.
