Ye Olde Signe is one of Dunhill's oldest mixtures; per records, it was first produced in 1915 and presented in period catalogs as a soft, finely sweet pure Virginia leaf with high natural sweetness. It's made from a composition of Virginia leaves in different colors, cut fine ribbon and put through a fermentation process; this gives the tin a natural, tea-like scent.
On the smoke it shows a medium-strength, balanced structure; Virginia sweetness is pronounced and smoke volume is high. It suits smokers seeking unadulterated Virginia blends who want to keep the tobacco's own taste front and center. The blend was reissued after a long gap and left the list when pipe tobacco production under the Dunhill name ended.
