The 4th Generation series uses the birth years of four generations in Erik Stokkebye's family (1855, 1897, 1931, 1957) as blend names; 1931 carries his father's year. This flake, sliced after pressing, is built mainly on American burley and aged American virginia with a small amount of black cavendish. The maker states the blend offers an unadulterated, natural smoke.
Its character sits between burley's nutty, bready fullness and virginia's measured sweetness; the black cavendish acts as a cushion softening the edge. It suits smokers who enjoy rubbing out and loosening the flake, prefer a slow smoke, and want to get close to an unadulterated burley palate.
