Winter's Tale

Winter's Tale is among the limited-production final blends of Friedman & Pease, the brand Greg Pease and Irwin Friedman founded in 1998. Records indicate the blend's backbone is dark Virginia processed at the company's own facility, with latakia and some perique added.

The stoved Virginia gives a deep sweetness reminiscent of bread and molasses, while the latakia carries woody smoke and the perique carries plummy spice. After the company closed, Pease agreed not to use the formulas and names he had developed, so the blend was never produced again, and its limited run has made it a collector's item.
