Bankside

Bankside was released on 8 November 2022 within G. L. Pease's Zeitgeist series, built around avant-garde themes of the modern era. It takes its name from the London district once home to the old Bankside Power Station, now the site of Tate Modern. It is designed as a reinterpretation of the classic Virginia-perique cake: red and bright Virginia build a base with genuine St. James perique, while dark fire-cured Kentucky and latakia add a contrasting smoky undertone.

The taste opens with cream and citrus tartness from the Virginia; perique carries plummy spice, while Kentucky and latakia carry the earth and smoke side. Presented in cut-cake plug form, the smoker can adjust their own intensity by rubbing it out or loading it in pieces. It suits smokers who know the Virginia-perique structure and are looking for a measured smoky layer added to it.
