Montgomery

Montgomery is a blend built by bringing together several grades of flue-cured Virginia leaf, from light gold to dark red, with a small amount of dark fire-cured Kentucky added. It is ribbon cut and carries no flavour additive.

The smoke is naturally sweet, tartish, and grassy; notes reminiscent of bread and sweet corn are reported. Kentucky leaf adds weight to the body without turning the blend smoky. It is noted to burn cool and not bite the tongue; it is a good record for those seeking a not-too-heavy but complex Virginia blend, and one suited to ageing.
