Renaissance

Renaissance is a classically structured, medium-bodied English mixture rich in Oriental tobaccos. Both Cyprus and Syrian latakia are used; golden, red, and matured Virginias are added enough to give the smoke body. It is among the first blends offered under the G. L. Pease name, alongside Samarra, Cairo, and Mephisto.

In the smoke, the Oriental leaf's nutty taste sits on the main axis; latakia adds a spicy layer leaning toward leather, while Virginia's fine sweetness binds these two components. After supply problems with Syrian leaf, it could not be continued in its original form and was reintroduced under the name Renaissance Reserve, said to stay true to the same formula.
