Stonehenge Flake is a Virginia-Perique flake G. L. Pease developed in 2001 together with John Gawith of Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. The blend uses bright flue-cured and sun-cured leaves of Brazilian, Zimbabwean, and Malawian origin; some burley is added for body and flavour intensity, and genuine St. James Parish perique is added for spiced topping.
The blended leaf is steamed and compressed into blocks under hot press and left to mature; the matured blocks are cut into thin flakes and separated into pieces about five centimetres long. It first launched in a limited number of tins and was later put into regular production. It is aimed at smokers seeking the ripe, lightly tart sweetness of pressed Virginia blends; records note production was subsequently discontinued.
