Triple Play is a blend that brings together ripe red and bright flue-cured Virginias with Acadian perique and a measured amount of dark fire-cured Kentucky. Once the leaf is pressed and matured in cakes, it is cut into two-ounce bars; the smoker separates the slice to whatever thickness they like.
The name references the three leaf types making up the blend. According to the producer, the dark fire-cured Kentucky content is notably lower than in JackKnife Plug and is used only to add dimension. It is aimed at smokers wanting a touch of smokiness added to the Virginia-Perique structure.
