Rich Dark Honeydew

Rich Dark Honeydew is a shag-cut blend Gallaher produced from dark Virginia leaf. The tobacco is nearly black in colour and was sold fully rubbed out. The "honeydew" in the name points to the light melon flavouring found in English tradition; the topping is not intense enough to give a fruity aromatic impression, and the sweetness stays measured.

The taste is strong and spicy, with dark Virginia's natural sugar clearly present; it is considered heavy in nicotine. The Gallaher version is no longer in production; Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. produced a blend of the same name and, due to European Union regulations, renamed it Rich Dark Spring Dew. It is meaningful for those seeking dark, strong, lightly flavoured English-style Virginia blends.
