Sweet Black Cherry Twist is a rope-form tobacco Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. prepares by hand-twisting stoved Virginia leaf. It is essentially built on the twist called Brown Irish; black cherry essence is applied over it, an application that darkens the rope's colour.
About five-millimetre coin slices are cut from the rope, rubbed out, and usually left to dry overnight. The smoke sits on top of a dark, earthy tobacco taste; the cherry topping stays light. Nicotine is moderate at first and rises noticeably toward the bottom of the bowl. It is aimed at smokers familiar with rope tobaccos and high-nicotine English twists.
