Bosun Cut Plug Unscented

This is the untopped version of Bosun Cut Plug. It is sold as broken flake pieces from a pressed plug; burley and dark fire-cured leaf are added alongside the Virginia leaf. The Kendal-style clove-like bowl note found in the aromatic version is absent here, so the taste comes directly from the leaf itself.

Since pressing fuses the leaves together, the pieces need to be rubbed apart; moisture generally runs high, and airing for a while before filling makes lighting easier. Nicotine is above medium. It suits an experienced smoker who dislikes the floral scent of Kendal-style topped tobaccos but is looking for the dry, earthy character of English plug tobaccos.
