Brown Cavendish

Brown Cavendish is one of the intermediate materials the firm sells in bulk for those who want to build their own blends. Cavendish, produced by processing and fermenting Virginia leaf under steam and pressure, is lighter in colour and more moderately sweet than its black counterpart. Records indicate this leaf is offered not as a finished blend but purely as bulk material.

The process takes the edge off the leaf, softens the smoke, and lowers nicotine; for this reason it is used to round off the sharp sides of other tobaccos or to add sweetness to a blend without adding body. Smoked alone, it gives a flat, mild taste. It is base material for the smoker building their own blend.
