Brown Twist Sliced is the factory-sliced, coin-thin form of the brown rope tobacco; records indicate it comes from the same production line also known in Kendal as "Happy Bogie." The wrapper leaf is dark fire-cured, while the filler is predominantly fire-cured leaf with a small proportion of air-cured dark Indian leaf. The brown form does not go through the pressure-cooling stage the black ropes undergo.
The sliced presentation removes the trouble of cutting individual pieces from a rope; the pieces are rubbed out and aired before filling. In the smoke, a sweetness reminiscent of caramelised sugar and dark chocolate is layered under a strong, earthy, oaky, smoky body; the character is close to that of a cigar. Nicotine is very high. This is a good record for those who love rope tobaccos and prefer short, slow smokes.
