Brown Twist Sweet Vanilla

This is a product from Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s twisted-rope family, sweetened with invert sugar and vanilla. The body is fire-cured Virginia and Indian leaf; the rope is left as it comes off the twisting machine, without additional pressing or cooking. The vanilla topping wraps a sweet layer around the smoky, earthy base of the leaf but doesn't lighten the body.

It is prepared by slicing thin, rubbing out, and airing. It is strong in nicotine and requires slow smoking. It is aimed at those accustomed to the rope format who want a flavoured but full-bodied tobacco.
