Coniston Cut Plug carries the name of Coniston in the Kendal lake district. Dark fire-cured leaf is combined with Malawi burley and Virginia, fermented under pressure, and presented sliced in plug form. In the aromatic version, the Kendal tradition's measured, clove-like bowl note is applied.

The flakes are opened by rubbing out; because pressing fuses the leaves together, the cut stays coarse after rubbing and the burn slows.
