Dark Flake Liquorice

This is the licorice-root-sauced version of the Dark Flake family. Virginia leaf, pressed and darkened by hot-press baking, forms the blend's body; Burley is added to it. The casing is the traditional Kendal trio of licorice root, fig, and tonka extract. Because the leaf is processed darker than in Brown Flake, the base is heavier.

The slices are tight; once rubbed out, they're packed as a coarse cut and burn slowly. On the taste, the dark Virginia's bready, lightly tart sweetness runs alongside licorice's bitter edge, with tonka adding a sweet weight to the aroma. Nicotine is above medium. Aimed at smokers with experience in Kendal-style sauced flake tobaccos.
