Kendal Aniseed Brown Pigtail is a fine hand-twisted rope tobacco. Indian-origin air-cured dark Virginia leaf and other strong Virginias are rolled together and flavored with anise. The name "Pigtail" comes from the rope's fineness; before use, coin-thin slices are cut and rubbed out.
On the smoke, anise's sweet spice is pronounced, with the fire-cured leaf's smoky, earthy body underneath. Nicotine is high and the smoke thick; suited to those accustomed to rope tobaccos who don't shy away from a hearty smoke. Kendal ropes have traditionally been used both in the pipe and as chewing tobacco.
