Kendal Black Bogie is an unflavored tobacco where fire-cured and air-cured dark leaves are hand-twisted into rope form. The name "Bogie" is given to Kendal's traditional rope tobaccos; the product is sold as a near-black dark roll, packed sliced and rubbed out.
The smoke is dark, smoky, and molasses-like; nicotine is very high. It can be demanding when smoked on an empty stomach or at a fast pace, so it's aimed at experienced smokers. Kendal ropes have historically been used both in the pipe and as chewing tobacco, and Gawith Hoggarth is the producer continuing this production tradition.
