Kendal Dark Shag Unscented

The unflavored version of Kendal Dark shows Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s dark-leaf approach in its plainest form. Malawi-origin fire-cured leaf and India-origin air-cured Virginia are cut into fine shag; no top flavoring is applied. Records indicate the pressed version of the same leaf mixture is sold under the name Dark Flake.

On the taste side, dry hay, bread crust, and earth dominate; a clear peppery sharpness accompanies the smoke. Nicotine is high, so it isn't well suited to smoking on an empty stomach or at a fast pace. Aimed at experienced smokers wanting an unflavored, dark, and full-bodied English tobacco.
