Kendal Gold Rum

Kendal Gold is one of the shag-cut main bodies produced at Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s Kendal workshop in Cumbria. Its base is a fine golden-hued cut of flame-cured bright Virginia leaf; the producer states it uses no other tobacco type in this series, only cleanly cut Virginia. The Kendal Gold body is offered with numerous different flavorings, and Kendal Gold Rum is this family's rum-flavored member.

The rum flavoring deepens the Virginia's own sugar without masking it; a sweet layer leaning toward raisin and molasses is felt on the smoke. Since the cut is shag, packing is loose and the bowl is drawn slowly. Suited to smokers seeking a middle ground between aromatic and unflavored Virginia.
