Sweet Whiskey Twist

Sweet Whiskey Twist is a product in Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s traditional rope (twist) line. Stoved Virginia leaf is hand-twisted into rope form, then flavored with whiskey. Stoving deepens Virginia's natural sugars, giving the leaf a dark color and a bready depth; the whiskey topping layers a grainy, lightly barrel-toned sweetness on top of that. The rope is sold either pre-sliced or whole, letting the smoker cut their own thickness when bought whole.

Despite the sweetness in its name, the smoke is full and hearty: since pressing and twisting compress the leaf, the smoke is dense and nicotine runs high. As is typical for rope tobaccos, the slices need to be thoroughly rubbed out and aired for a while, or lighting becomes difficult. Suited to those wanting a topped aromatic where the tobacco taste stays in front rather than tipping into candy, and to smokers accustomed to strong smokes.
