Old Georgetown

Old Georgetown is one of the shop's original blends dating from its founding year in 1964, and is referred to as the best-selling product in Georgetown Tobacco's English-type line. It draws on classic Balkan tradition: aged Virginias, Yenidje-type Oriental leaf, and a generous proportion of Cyprian Latakia are brought together. The cut is ribbon, making it easy to pack and light.

Its character is set by the combination of Latakia's smoky, resinous weight and Yenidje's dry-hay, spice-reminiscent tartness; the Virginia base holds a bready sweetness underneath these. It's unflavored, with the flavor line coming entirely from the leaves themselves. Given the high Latakia ratio, it can be heavy going for someone accustomed to aromatic smokes; by contrast, it's familiar ground for smokers seeking traditional Balkan mixtures.
