Oriental Flake

Oriental Flake is a flake tobacco in the Pesse Canoe line from Izmir-based Gladora. The blend is built from Turkish-grown Virginia and Oriental leaf; after pressing and slicing, it's tinned as thin plates that can be rubbed out by hand. The brand was long available only in the European market before expanding into North America through its distribution network.

Its character is floral and lightly sweet; the Oriental leaf's dry-hay and spice association combines with a fruity depth giving impressions of fig and raisin. The fig seasoning applied to the leaf is felt less as a pronounced flavoring layer and more as a subtle sweetness in the background. Nicotine is moderate, and the burn stays even when the slices are aired sufficiently. Suited to smokers wanting an Oriental-forward, near-unflavored flake tobacco without Latakia.
