Vanilla (no.1)

No. 1 in the Golden Blend's series, this is an aromatic long sold as Vanilla and the series' best-known product. It is a Pöschl production from Bavaria. Its composition includes hand-selected Virginia and Burley leaf; the cut is an irregular-width "wild cut," which makes for airier bowl packing. It is offered in a 50-gram pouch as well as 100- and 200-gram tins.

A pronounced vanilla topping sets the flavor line; beneath it sits Virginia's light sugar and Burley's dry, nutty base. It is the mildest member of the series: nicotine is low, the smoke is mild, and tongue bite stays limited. Because of this mildness, it suits both those new to the pipe and those seeking a low-intensity aromatic that can be smoked all day.
