Latakia Layer Kake

Latakia Layer Kake is a cake blend GQ Tobaccos presses in layers. The middle, making up roughly forty percent of the blend, is smoky, sweet-woody Cyprian Latakia, flanked on either side by citrus-and-fruit-sweet dark and light Virginias along with woody, spicy Turkish Oriental. The pressed cake springs back and crumbles easily by hand.

The high Latakia ratio pulls the blend toward the Balkan style: the smoke is smoke-forward, with the Virginias providing sweetness and light tartness and the Orientals supplying spice. There is no topping. Because of the cake structure, it needs to be crumbled and aired out before smoking. Suited to smokers wanting an unflavored, slow-burning blend where Latakia is pronounced.
