Anniversary Kake

Anniversary Kake is one of the most talked-about Virginia-Perique works within Russ Ouellette's Hearth & Home series. It is made as a pressed cake; the slices come oily and sticky, meant to be rubbed out by hand. The tin aroma carries a tart intensity from fermentation together with a rum note reminiscent of naval tradition.

The blend sits at the dark end of the Virginia-Perique family; the Perique ratio is kept noticeably high, giving flavors of dried plum, fig, and black pepper.
