Distinguished Penguin

Distinguished Penguin is a blend in the Hearth & Home series linked to the Scottish style. Its composition includes bright Virginia along with Carolina-grown flake-cut leaf, steamed-and-heat-treated (stoved) dark Virginia, Latakia, and black Cavendish. The stoved Virginia lends the blend a depth of cooked fruit and caramel.

Latakia is kept at a low proportion, sitting in the background rather than overriding the sweetness. This positions the blend somewhere between English mixtures and straight Virginias. It carries no topping. Well suited to smokers who want Latakia as a subtle hint of spice with Virginia sweetness at the center, as well as those wanting to sample the Scottish style.
