El Nino Reposado Limited Edition

El Nino is the Marquee series' red Virginia and Perique based blend; unflavored black Cavendish forms the body, while fire-cured Kentucky and a very small amount of Latakia add depth. In the Reposado edition, this blend was rested in oak barrels that had held tequila, letting the spirit's aroma transfer directly to the leaf; no liquid alcohol is added to the blend.

According to sources, the idea grew out of the tobacco-like tone detectable in aged tequila. The most prominent layers on the smoke are fire-cured leaf and Latakia, followed by Perique's plum-and-pepper note; the overall character is lightly tart and mildly sweet. Records indicate production stayed under 1,800 tins, making it a limited series of interest to smokers seeking unconventional recipes.
