Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada is an unflavored mixture Hearth & Home prepared for the 2011 West Coast Pipe Show. It's built by adding Oriental tobaccos, Perique, and a small amount of earthy-tasting Burley atop three separate Virginia leaves; this structure sets it apart from both a straight Virginia and a classic Virginia-Perique.

The Virginia's sugary sweetness, the Orientals' dry spice accent, and the Perique's peppery fruit tone proceed together; Burley weighs down the base and balances the burn. It stays in the medium band for nicotine. Because it was prepared in limited quantity for the show, it wasn't in continuous production, and was withdrawn entirely from the market once the brand ceased operations. It's a record for those who love unflavored, layered Virginia mixtures.
