Masai

Masai is a Latakia-containing blend that appeared in HU Tobacco's line, first called Foundation by Musicó and later African Line. Its base is built from ready-rubbed honeydew Virginia leaf; strong Malawi Burley, dark-fired Kentucky, and, records indicate, roughly seventeen percent Cyprus Latakia are added. Syrian Latakia was used in the blend's early versions; once that stock ran out, it switched to Cyprus Latakia.

The result is a medium-to-full-strength mixture where spice and sweetness are balanced; smoky and cocoa-evoking notes come forward. Per the maker's statement, production of the blend has been discontinued.
