Royal Jersey Perique Mixture is the Virginia-Perique (VaPer) blend in J. F. Germain & Son's Royal Jersey line. Perique of Louisiana origin is added atop the sugary base of Virginia leaves; the Perique lends the blend depth in the direction of peppery spice and dried fruit. The product is presented already rubbed out.
It contains no flavoring; the flavor comes entirely from the interaction of the two leaves. As the Perique proportion increases, the spice becomes more pronounced, so slow smoking and moderate packing make it easier to distinguish the flavors. It suits smokers looking for an unflavored, spicy Virginia blend that deepens over time.
