Red Line

Red Line is a blend in Ken Byron Ventures' unflavored Virginia line. Per the manufacturer's description, it's built primarily on red Virginia crops sourced from Carolina and Brazil; spicy dark Virginia leaves are added to raise the blend's body and nicotine load. Since the dark leaves are kept in the background proportionally, the flavor balance stays on the bready, fruity sweetness of red Virginia.

Since no casing is used, the taste comes entirely from the leaves themselves: dried fruit, a light lemony tanginess and a sugary aftertaste come forward. Smoked slowly, its tendency to bite the tongue lessens, though a fast draw can give the sharpness typical of Virginias.
