Edgeworth Ready-Rubbed

Edgeworth Ready-Rubbed is a classic burley-based blend produced in the US for many years; in its final period of production it was made by Lane Limited. Its recipe rests on mature burley and selected light golden Virginia leaf; a measured casing is applied on top, with the old recipe reportedly including Jamaican rum. Since the pressed leaf is cut ready to be rubbed by hand, it gets its name from this preparation and packs easily into a pipe.

In the smoke, cocoa, molasses and nutty sides come forward; nicotine is medium, and the casing doesn't override tobacco character. A blend for those seeking a cased but not aromatic burley to smoke all day. The brand went out of production in 2004; once Lane lost the rights to the name, it carried on a similar blend under the name Lane Limited Ready Rubbed.
