Edgeworth Aromatic (Red)

Edgeworth Aromatic was sold as the red-labeled arm of the Edgeworth family Larus & Brother Company launched in 1903. Per period promotional texts, the blend was built on Burley leaves and buttery yellow Virginia flake, with Latakia, Perique and Oriental leaf added to shape the flavor. This structure brings it closer to a lightly cased American mixture than a classic syrupy aromatic.

Body is medium; Burley's nutty, bready base comes forward, with Latakia and Oriental leaf leaving a fine spice and wood layer in the background. Products under the Edgeworth name were carried on for a while by other manufacturers after Larus closed in 1974, and were eventually discontinued.
