Holiday Pipe Mixture

Holiday Pipe Mixture is one of Larus & Brother Company's multi-component mixtures. Per the tin copy, the blend brings together Louisiana Perique, Carolina's buttery flake leaf, white Kentucky Burley, bright Virginia and Cyprus Latakia; the manufacturer also mentioned an unnamed sixth component. This structure places it in the classic American mixture class.

Latakia gives a woody, smoky layer, while Perique adds a plummy, peppery sharpness; Burley and Virginia build a bready, sweet base beneath them. Body is medium, flavor intensity is high. Since Larus's Richmond production ended in 1974, the blend has long been off the market; old tins circulate as collector items.
