British Woods is a dark oriental mixture prepared by McClelland for Barry Levin's Vermont-based Levin Pipes International brand. Over generous latakia, spice from Macedonian-sourced oriental leaves and measured sweetness from matured Virginia are layered; the components are rested together in their own juices for months before being tinned. It's marketed as a slow-burning, cool-smoking, medium-to-full-bodied blend.
Suited to smokers seeking the classic English/oriental style where latakia leads, with no added flavoring. After Levin's death the recipe was carried on by McClelland in its own catalog, and production ended entirely when the company closed in 2018.
