Mixture Flake

Mixture Flake is the pressed-slice version of Mac Baren's classic Mixture blend. Its foundation is Virginia, burley and the brand's own black cavendish; the manufacturer states over thirty-five leaves from different parts of the world are brought together in the blend. The leaves are pressed, rested a while and cut into slices. A lightly sweet top note is applied, so it's classed as a light aromatic.

In the smoke, Virginia sweetness and burley's nutty dryness form a balanced base, cavendish adds softness, and the top flavor stays within a range that doesn't mask the tobacco taste. Being pressed, it burns slowly and coolly, suited to smoking throughout the day. Suited to pipe smokers seeking a middle path between flavored and unflavored, who don't mind preparing a flake.
