Scaferlati Caporal Bleu

Scaferlati Caporal is one of the names in French pipe tradition dating back centuries. Produced for many years under the Seita umbrella, the series has since been continued by Scandinavian Tobacco Group and Mac Baren. Bleu is the series' dark-leaning member: dark-fire-cured Kentucky is balanced with bright Virginia leaf, and air-cured, fermented tobacco is added to the blend. Its loose cut packs easily into a pipe, with no topping or flavoring applied.

The smoke gives an earthy, spicy, dry tobacco taste; no sugar or vanilla-like sweetness is sought. Records indicate it's the fullest-bodied member of the series, with a pronounced nicotine load. Suited to smokers used to unflavored, strong-edged French-style tobaccos who want a full pipe later in the day; heavy for first-time pipe smokers.
