Three Nuns is a Scottish classic released by J & F Bell in Glasgow over a century ago. Production rights transferred to Mac Baren in 2013. The blend is a rope in which a select Virginia leaf is used as the wrap; its core holds dark-fire-cured Kentucky, and after resting, the rope is cut into coins. Burley sets the balance in the Virginia-dominant structure.
An important historical detail is that the original formula contained Perique, while today's release uses dark-fire-cured Kentucky in its place; this change shifts the taste's spicy-fruity side toward a smoky tone. The coins burn slowly, with a fine soot layer riding atop Virginia's bready, herbal sweetness. Suited to patient smokers interested in classic English and Scottish cuts.
