Acadian Ribbon is a Virginia-Perique mixture McClelland released in late 2005 as a 50-gram tin under the Blakeney's Best umbrella. What sets the series apart is the toasting process applied to the Virginia leaf.
Toasted golden Virginia builds the body; a pronounced Perique share, staying cool and mild, is added to it. Among the medium-thick, long-cut ribbons are also flake pieces, a structure that eases packing and burns without trouble. Its taste is nutty, sweet, and close to caramel; body is light-to-medium. Falls within the territory of those seeking Perique's spice over a mild base.
