Bayou Slice

Bayou Slice is a Virginia-Perique slice McClelland put into production in 2005 within the Blakeney's Best series. The name nods to the Louisiana bayou region where Perique is grown.

The blend uses a generous proportion of cake-pressed and rested Louisiana Perique, joined by sweet, mild red Virginia. The dense, dark brown broken slices carry lighter-toned veins; the tin note runs earthy and spiced, reminiscent of fermenting fruit. Since it's moist straight from the tin, the slices need rubbing out and some airing. Falls within the territory of those seeking smokes that spotlight Perique's peppery and plum side.
