Beacon

Beacon is a mixture in which McClelland pairs a long-rested Virginia slice with Perique. The label text is built on a lighthouse image, describing the blend as a tobacco that calms a sailor escaping a storm.

Presented as broken slice. Its body is built by sweet, light-colored flue-cured Virginia classes; records indicate seven-year-fermented Louisiana Perique is added to it. The Perique brings dark-fruit depth and spice to the blend, while the Virginia carries sweetness and tangy liveliness. Strength is medium, flavor intense. Falls within the territory of those seeking the classic Virginia-Perique balance in slice form; discontinued when McClelland closed.
