Beacon Extra is the version of McClelland's Beacon blend with a raised Perique proportion. Records indicate the two blends share the same base; the difference lies in the share of Louisiana Perique in the mixture.
The broken-slice structure and matured Virginia body are preserved, but the Perique's peppery-fruity push comes forward noticeably. This carries both taste and satiety above Beacon's. Falls within the territory of those used to Perique intensity who seek strong, spicy Virginia smokes; may run heavy for those new to Perique.
