Black Parrot

Black Parrot is a Virginia-Perique mixture McClelland produced by reconstructing an old club blend. With its red-Virginia-forward body, it sits close to the same maker's slice-form Virginias.

On first opening the tin, the Perique aroma comes forward, but the peppery push in the bowl stays measured; in this respect it offers a milder smoke than Perique-heavy blends. The smoke is full, the taste mild and balanced. Falls within the territory of those wanting Perique as a complementary element rather than a dominant one. Discontinued when McClelland closed; cellared tins have become a collector's item.
