Blackwoods Flake is a slice tobacco McClelland built from only two Virginia types, pressed a second time after blending and then matured. It's counted within the firm's Personal Reserve line and presented as broken slice.

In the blend, mild red Virginia's natural sweetness interweaves with stoved black Virginia's dark, spiced aroma. Double aging rounds off the flavors; the result is a profile leaning toward sweet-tart fruit, dark bread, and spice. Strength is medium, flavor intense. A record falling within the territory of those used to preparing slice tobacco who seek an unflavored, matured Virginia smoke.
