No. 925 Nine 2 Five

No. 925, known among smokers as "Nine 2 Five," was an unflavored Latakia blend in McClelland's numbered bulk series. What sets it apart from other English blends is that it contains essentially no Virginia: an air-cured-leaf Cavendish base combines with Latakia and Oriental leaves. The aroma on opening the pouch is sweet and earthy despite the lack of Virginia, so it's often mistaken for a VaPer, according to records.

In the smoke, Latakia's smoke dominates, but the Cavendish base softens the blend and keeps it away from the sharpness of full English mixtures. Nicotine load stays at a medium-low level. Suited to those seeking an unflavored but non-heavy smoke, and can serve as a middle step for those still getting used to Latakia. Production ended when McClelland closed in 2018.
