Old Dog

Old Dog is one of McClelland's full-bodied English mixtures. Per the product description, the blend is deepened with Cyprian Latakia and spiced with Macedonian-sourced Xanthi Oriental; its liveliness comes from rested flue-cured Virginias and black Cavendish. Here, black Cavendish isn't used for flavoring but as a dark, mellow base element.

Latakia's smoke sits at the blend's center; the Oriental's spice and the Virginia's sweetness frame that smoke, while the Cavendish softens the mouthfeel. Flavor intensity and nicotine dose run high. A blend meant for evening pipes among smokers used to heavy English mixtures. Discontinued when the brand closed in 2018.
